Lekki Port Will Reduce Cost Of Doing Business In Nigerian Ports-Jime

The Nigerian Shippers Council (NSC) on Monday promised to ensure efficiency at the $1.5bn Lekki Port, stating that all manners of sharp practices won’t be allowed at the new port.

This is even as the nations economic regulator said it expects the cost of doing business at Lekki Port to be the lowest ever due to the ports automated processes.

Giving a goodwill message during the commissioning of the Lekki Deep Seaport, the Executive Secretary/CEO of the NSC, Honourable Emmanuel Jime congratulated the nation on the transformation the Lekki port will bring to the way port operations operates in the country.

According to the NSC Boss, “I want to congratulate Mr. President for his transformational leadership that has led to the delivery of key infrastructural upgrade in our country.

“I will like to talk about Lekki Deep Seaport with a sense of nostalgia. As a Managing Director of the Nigerian Export Processing Zone Authority (NEPZA), I was here in 2019 when the Breakwater was just been built. In less than five years from that time, we are here to bare witness to the delivery of what has come to be a game changer in our maritime space.

“Today, I sit as the Executive Secretary/CEO of the NSC, an agency that will ensure there is efficiency in service delivery at this port. So, from end to end, I have a story to share.

“Lekki Deep Seaport represents a dynamic change as far as the maritime domain is concerned. This is a port that is fully automated and digitalized. The implication of this is that, for once, Nigeria will have a port that will ensure that business is conducted diligently. It also means that the cost of doing business in this port will be the lowest ever. That is the promise. That is the commitment.

“Lekki Deep Seaport, better be on the watch out. The NSC will be monitoring every single way Lekki port conducts its processes. We will be monitoring and watching out for the kind of services that will be delivered at this port.”
