Hassan Bello Is An Astute Administrator, An Achiever – Nweke
By Kenneth Jukpor
Following reports attributed to the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) that the Executive Secretary of Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) Mr. Hassan Bello should be sacked for incompetence, a former National President of the association has described Bello as an ‘astute administrator per excellence’.
Chief Eugene Nweke made this known in a press release issued yesterday describing the earlier reports on Bello’s performance at NSC as laughable and ridiculous.
According to Nweke, Hassan Bello has enormous achievements at the Council and the maritime sector at large,
Nweke opined that the report may have been paid advert or image laundering of the Executive Secretary of NSC.
According to Nweke, the Shippers’ Council boss has earned a fine reputation as an Executive Secretary extraordinary, because of his consistent insistence for a business friendly, transparent, competitive, predictable and efficient port industry, and the need institute a sustainable port synergy among critical stakeholders.
“Given the competitive industry pressure such as the maritime sector, Bello shines as an industry administrator solving complex management problems.”
“He has distinguished himself as an administrator who places high value on objectivity; hence, his ability to look at any situation and appraise it utterly devoid of emotion, this is indeed is an essential quality of a successful Executive,” Nweke said.
Nweke also observed that Bello looks at facts as he is not swayed by feelings, “He looks at what is, rather than at what you would like things to be. He sizes up situations coldly and analytically, weighing the facts without prejudice”
The freight forwarding veteran also described Bello as a team player who has evolved a dynamic and formidable work force at Shippers Council.
“This he achieved by evaluating employee’s strength and shortcomings, regardless of negative reports about the employee’s or his personal feelings towards him and her. He never allows emotion get in the way of his decision making, encouraging everyone and creating equal opportunities and enabling environment for everyone to excel”, Nweke said.
He encouraged Bello to ignore the call for his sack, describing such call to be borne out of industry burden and frustration of an individual, “Such call should rather spur Bello to do more in his economic regulatory quest in Nigeria’s maritime industry”
He added that the decisions made by Bello are of major significance, yet with far reaching consequences after prolonged collective discussion preceding it.
