FAAN, LASEMA sign MoU on emergency rescue
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria and the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for access to difficult terrains in cases of air emergencies in distances of about five nautical miles from the airport.
The Manager, Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, Mrs. Victoria Shin-Aba, said history had been made by the partnership with LASEMA in ensuring that lives were saved in times of emergencies.
She stated that the process started about a year ago and that FAAN would give LASEMA vehicles free access at the toll gates as part of its contribution to save lives.
“With this MoU, there will be easy coordination of activities during any emergency. It will further strengthen the relationship between both agencies,” she added.
The General Manager, LASEMA, Mr. Tiamiyu Adesina, stated that the agreement would make the relationship between the two agencies stronger.
Adesina said that all over the world, collaboration remained the only way to achieve goals and that the partnership with FAAN would improve the agency’s life-saving activities in times of emergencies.
