Explosion Rocks Ije Ododo As Vandals Destroy Oil PipelinesAn explosion reportedly occurred in Ije Ododo area of Ikorodu, Lagos, early morning of Tuesday June 9, 2015 following the rupture of oil pipelines by vandals in the area.

Following the massive fire that occurred after the explosion, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has shut down the flows and locked the supply valve to stop further pumping of oil to prevent spread of the raging fire.

According to the spokesperson of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in South West Zone, Ibrahim Farinloye, action would commence to put out of the fire after securing access to the difficult terrain.

Ije Ododo pipeline is directly from Atlas Cove, which supplies petroleum products to Moshinmi, which further distributes to other parts of South West zone.

Ije Odudu and Arepo have been very volatile due to the activities of pipeline vandals there in recent times.
