CRFFN, UNN Enter Partnership For Capacity Building In Freight Forwarding

As part of efforts to demonstrate the commitment of the new leadership of the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria, (CRFFN), towards making Nigeria a training hub for freight forwarding and supply chain management, the Council has partnered with the University of Nigeria (UNN) Nsukka.

Both institutions sealed this partnership in Abuja recently by signing a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) which empowers the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) as an accredited education services provider for professional qualifications in freight forwarding and supply chain management.

During the occasion, the Registrar of CRFFN, Barr. Samuel Nwakohu stated that the move was in fulfillment of Section 15 of the CRFFN Act no. 16 of 2007, which provides that the Council should educate freight forwarders to be at part with their counter parts in other countries.

The CRFFN boss expressed his profound gratitude to the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Ports, Harbours and Waterways, Hon. Dr. Pat Asadu for sponsoring this project as part of empowerment for his constituency.

Meanwhile, the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Ports, Harbours and Waterways Hon. Dr. Pat Asadu extolled CRFFN Leadership for this laudable initiatives, adding that accreditation of the Centre for Logistics and Transport at University of Nigeria, Nsukka, will be of immense benefit to the people of South East geopolitical zone in particular and Nigeria at Large.

He re-affirmed his commitment to nurture the Centre to an enviable standard.

Responding on behalf of the Vice Chancellor of University of Nigeria Nsukka, the Coordinator of the Centre Prof. Fab Onah expressed appreciation to CRFFN for the initiative and applauded the untiring efforts of Hon. Dr. Pat Asadu in ensuring that the Centre received accreditation of the University Senate and described the event as a landmark achievement for the Council and the University.

He on behalf of the University promised to use the Centre to promote learning in freight forwarding, Logistics, Transport and Supply Chain as well as skill acquisition by Practitioners.

In his vote of thanks, Dr. Billy Gillis Harry, Chairman of Governing Council Committee on Media and Inter Governmental Agencies, commended, Hon. Dr. Asadu for making himself a pillar of support to CRFFN, adding that accreditation of the Centre is an eloquent testimony of the preparedness of University of Nigeria, Nsukka, to promote freight forwarding and supply chain business in the country.

He described freight forwarding as a very critical segment and economic neck of the Nigeria and thanked all.

In his remarks at the occasion the Chairman, Education and Training Committee of the Governing Council, Dr. Kayode Farinto expressed gratitude to Dr. Pat Asadu, who he described as a catalyst for this historic milestone.
