BULLS: No African Time!
There was a mild drama at the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) quarterly stakeholders meeting in Lagos last week, when the Vice President, Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), Dr. Kayode Farinto walked out of the venue in annoyance after waiting endlessly alongside other stakeholders without the arrival of the NPA Managing Director’s representative.
The meeting which was scheduled for 10:00am only started around 12:12 pm and most participants were already sitting at the venue at 10:15am with the expectation that Ms. Hadiza Bala-Usman who isn’t known to be tardy, would preside over the meeting.
“I don’t have time for all this nonsense, I am leaving. I am a businessman and time is precious to me. If it were to be the Managing Director herself, she would have been here” Dr. Farinto exclaimed as he left in obvious angry mood.
NPA management staff should learn to emulate the Managing Director’s exceptional characteristics on issues like timeliness at least to give themselves a better perception in the public view.
NPA! make UNA say no to African time!
