BULLS: Courageous Customs
Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) displayed its commitment to its active vendetta against smugglers last week, by destroying seized items, thereby sending the correct notion that the Service doesn’t tolerate such sharp practices. In the past, the norm was to display the products at press briefings and allow them entry into the markets via auction or as gifts to the friends of Customs.
About 917 cartons of poultry products with the Duty Paid Value of N5,502,000 suspected to be smuggled
en-route the Seme border was destroyed by the Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone “A”, Ikeja. This new stance of the Service deserves commendation and we hope they do not return to the old ways.
