The Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi has always been eager to speak at every opportunity given to address transport issues in the country. He has also harnesed speech delivery skills since his emergence as Transport Minister ensuring he leaves his audience captivated.
Last week, Amaechi in company of the Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, embarked on an inspection tour to see the level of work done at the Lagos- Ibadan expressway. Amaechi, as usual came out smartly, responding to questions from journalists in an intelligent manner. One thing that impressed MMS Plus was his ability to accept faults and acknowledge the imminent challenges which could make the initial timeline for the project’s completion not feasible.
From his speeches, one can’t question his commitment to ensuring that the project is successful.
Nevertheless, beautiful speeches wouldn’t transform Nigeria’s transport sector; the sector needs an overhaul. Amaechi made several promises during his early days as Minister, he should begin to walk the talk.
