Bello-Koko Meets Barge Operators Over Process Value

Driven by the relentless commitment to achieving seamless connectivity between the seaports and hinterland as an enabling initiative for sustaining the growth of exports, Managing Director of the of the Nigerian Ports Authority, Mohammed Bello KoKo, on Monday held a process enhancement meeting with executives of the Barge Owners Association of Nigeria (BOAN) at the NPA Headquarters in Marina.

The meeting focused on providing the support necessary to optimize the value chain of barge operations, including an infusion of professionalism to sustainably ensure the safety of lives and investments at all times.

The deployment of barges for the evacuation of cargo from the ports to hinterland using the waterways to reduce pressure and congestion on the road corridor is an interventionist initiative of the NPA that has grown into a huge direct and indirect employment generation business endeavour.

The barge operators executives were led to the meeting by their President, Hon Olubunmi Olumekun, Hajia Bola Muse, Nura Wagani among others.
