BEARS: The Audacity Of Confessional Blackmail
Lately, there have been increasing cases of overt blackmail from some unscrupulous members of the maritime media against some innocent stakeholders. We were shocked to hear from a predator that he was paid to write and publish an injurious material against his victim. It was an unconscious confession taken for professionalism. The audacity exhibited by the predator who would not listen to plea to balance the story not “kill” hit me below the belt. That was a desecration of the profession taken too far. And that content was defamatory and libelous. Ironically, the person turned around to raise alarm of “threat” to life against those making efforts to save him and his career. Please, can associations come in to save the dignity of our job?
We know, no doubt that some stakeholders are petty and often blackmail the media too. We applaud MARAN for the training on Cybercrime. Thumbs Up!
