BEARS: Pray For Jamoh, Our DG

BEARS: Pray For Jamoh, Our DG
Bashir Jamoh, DG, NIMASA

It was very, very tempting to let go.  NIMASA presented its 2021 scorecards with plans for 2022 at a media parley last week in Lagos.  The plans and scorecards sounded impressive but threw up some concerns on the direction  of the agency in 2022.   Perhaps, a forecast of the operating environment would have aided the audience to appreciate better the all- inclusive plan of acquiring buildings for all zonal and area offices of the agency. This is a political year, with many debt over-hang on the nation, and depleting fortunes in the maritime sector. The plan to also build skills acquisition centres in the six geographical zones of the country, raises concerns over possible oversight of some of its duties. Over 2billion naira was set aside for corporate social responsibility in 2021, how it was spent is a matter for another day. While the industry expects a detailed scorecard in form of annual report, perhaps  as a regulatory agency, for the umpteenth time, the maritime media deserves professional knowledge up-scaling  centre. Let the  CSR count here too, our able DG. You will not lose your election, in Jesus name!
