BEARS: Buhari Directs Lekki Crisis
President Muhammadu Buhari directed the Minister of Transportation, Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, to consult and bring up a memorandum to the Federal Executive Council (FEC) to link Lekki Deep Sea Port facility with the railway network.
While the move is commendable, it is coming rather late at the Lekki deep seaport is expected to start operations in September this year without rail connection, inadequate roads and no pipeline connection for evacuation of cargoes.
Buhari’s directive on Tuesday in Lagos after inspecting the rate of work done at the first Deep Sea Port in Nigeria can be likened to his directive on the removal of conflicting clauses in the new Electoral law. The removal of those clauses have become a huge bottleneck sparking court cases and varying interpretations.
