BEARS: Beware! Dakuku’s Sarcastic Smile
Dr. Dakuku Peterside, DG, NIMASA
Had he known he was going to face such public humiliation, probably the Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) Dr. Dakuku Peterside wouldn’t have attended the Shipowners Association of Nigeria (SOAN), 2017 Workshop and Dinner in Lagos last week. It was just like a Nollywood movie audition when the SOAN President, Engr. Greg Ogbeifun mounted the podium to deliver his keynote address and everyone was relaxed in a jovial mood after the humourous scene created Barr. Emeka Akabogu who asked a question premised on the removal of Rotimi Ameachi as Transport Minister by 2019 assumption and had gotten a swift response from the former River state governor that “do you want to remove me? Habar!
This mood was expected to be sustained even as it coincided with the arrival of Dr. Dakuku, who walked in majestically with a broad smile. Unfortunately, the man who had dressed in the usual Delta-Ibo native attire like the honourable minister was the topic of discuss as the speech was boldly read out by the SOAN President exposing the weaknesses and failures of the Dakuku’s NIMASA.
Without grimace, Engr. Greg called for Dakuku’s resignation or sack. Few minutes later, Dakuku was seen carrying a bitter smile or better put ‘a sarcastic smile’ even as he tried to display public morality.
What an unexpected strike? Words easily changed a blissful smile into an ironic one!
