Anaroke Elected President As League of Maritime Editors Holds AGM
The Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of MMS Plus Newspapers, Mr. Kingsley Anaroke, has been elected the President of the League of Maritime Editors and Publishers. Anaroke emerged President on Tuesday as a new executive to run the affairs of the group for the next two years was elected at the Annual General Meeting(AGM) of the group, made up of the pioneers, pacesetters and employers of labour in transport and maritime journalism in the country.
Others elected were the Publisher of Marine and Economy News Online, Mr Shola Fadeyi as Vice President, Publisher of Shipping Day News Online, Mr Francis Ugwoke as Secretary General.
The Publishers of Maritime Voice, International Maritime Digest Newspapers, Mazi Tony Ohakwe and Friday Odoemena were also elected as Treasurer and Public Relations Officer (PRO) respectively for the group.
The Publisher Maritime Watch, Mr Shola Mekusi was also elected as the Welfare Officer of the group.
All the officers were elected unopposed in a peaceful exercise that was supervised by the former President of League, Mr Edomi Ovie.
Ovie who had served two terms thanked members for the cooperation given to him during his tenure.
He called on the new executive to work hard to give the group a pride of place in the maritime media industry.
In his acceptance speech on behalf of the new executive, Mr Anaroke pledged to do his best to reposition the group.
Anaroke, former Secretary-General of League, commended Ovie for the years of good service and assured that the new executive will work hard for the best interest of the group.
