Fifteen exceptional wise women were inducted into the MMS Hall of Fame at the just concluded 2024 MMS Woman of Fortune Hall of Fame induction ceremony and International Women’s Leadership Summit held in Abuja. These are their profiles.

Dr. Faith Izibenua Zibs-Godwin

PHARM (DR.) FAITH IZIBENUA ZIBS-GODWIN

Dr. Faith Izibenua Zibs-Godwin, Pharm. B, Pharm. D, Msc, mPSN, MAW, is the pioneer and immediate past chairman of the Bayelsa State Drug Abuse Prevention and Rehabilitation Committee (BADAPARC). She hails from Atissa Clan, Yenagoa Local Government Area.

This committee was established in 2021 by His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri, the Governor of Bayelsa State, to address the pressing issue of drug abuse within the state. Dr. Zibs-Godwin’s tireless effort focuses on both prevention and rehabilitation, particularly for young people struggling with substance addiction.

In 2017 she was appointed as a Special Assistant, latter elevated to the position of a Senior Special Assistant on medicals, and subsequently appointed as Chairman BADAPARC in 2021.

In 2023, Zibs-Godwin served as the Peoples Democratic Party Deputy Director for Women Mobilization (Bayelsa Central). She was later appointed as co-chairperson Bayelsa Central Campaign Council of the women wing, during which she developed strategies to boost women participation in the 2023 general elections, which led to an increased mobilization of women.

Under the auspices of the Bayelsa State Government, BADAPARC has collaborated with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) to implement evidence-based drug prevention programs. Notably, they have trained 124 teachers in the “UNPLUGGED” program as well as the empowerment of 100 school counselors through the evidence-based counseling program known as ‘TREATNET,’ enabling them to effectively address drug-related issues both in schools and the broader community.

Dr. Zibs-Godwin’s commitment to combating drug abuse extends beyond training and education. BADAPARC has conducted extensive awareness campaigns, reaching every nook and cranny of Bayelsa State. They have engaged with local communities, religious centers, markets and schools, establishing “WAR AGAINST DRUG Abuse (WADA) Clubs” to foster a united front against this menace.

Since 2021, over 100 victims of drug abuse, predominantly youths, have received free counseling, treatment, and rehabilitation. Dr. Zibs-Godwin’s unwavering dedication has facilitated their reintegration into society, allowing them to rebuild their lives.

Dr. Zibs-Godwin boasts an impressive professional background. She holds Doctor of Pharmacy and Bachelor of Pharmacy degrees from the University of Benin, Edo State. Her expertise extends to clinical pharmacy and pharmacy practice, with a Master’s degree from the Niger Delta University in Bayelsa State. During her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) tenure, she contributed significantly to the Pharmacy Department at the Bayelsa Specialist Hospital. Her administrative journey includes serving as the Head, Pharmacy Department at the Bayelsa State Specialist Hospital.

Beyond her academic achievements, Dr. Zibs-Godwin has actively pursued professional development. She has participated in training programs such as the Universal Treatment Curriculum for Substance Use, Universal Recovery Curriculum (UTC), and Universal Prevention Curriculum (UPC) organized by the Colombo Plan and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), trainings on Basic Life Support (BLS), Basics of Immunization, Vaccination & Parenteral Drug Administration amongst others.

Her scholarly contributions further include numerous paper presentations at international conferences hosted by the International Society of Substance Use Professionals (ISSUP) as well as speaker at INHSU International Conference, 2022 Abhudhabi, UAE.

The very distinguished pharmacist is a member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN). She previously held the position of Assistant Secretary in the Association of Lady Pharmacists and received a Merit Award from the PSN Bayelsa State chapter. She is an active member of the ISSUP community.

Dr. Zibs-Godwin is presently the Honorable Commissioner for Marine and Blue Economy in Bayelsa State. A ministry on the mission to empower Bayelsans and Nigerians to innovate, responsibly harness marine resources and create enabling environment for sustainable prosperity and development.

Married with children, Dr. Zibs-Godwin exemplifies excellence, compassion, and unwavering commitment in all assignments.

Ms Adora Nwonu

Ms Adaora Nwonu

Presently the Deputy Director, Trade Services, Nigerian Shippers’ Council, Adaora Nwonu is an experienced maritime professional and a dedicated leader in Nigeria’s trade and logistics sector.

With over 20 years of experience in the maritime industry, her role is pivotal in enhancing trade facilitation and improving the ease of doing business within Nigeria’s maritime ecosystem.

Ms. Nwonu holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management and a postgraduate degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management. This educational background, coupled with her practical expertise, has shaped her into a knowledgeable and strategic leader. She has played key roles in various national and international initiatives, contributing significantly to Nigeria’s trade reform and policy agenda.

As the Reform Champion of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council at the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC), Ms. Nwonu drove initiatives aimed at improving Nigeria’s business environment. She also served as the focal person for the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) agreement, helping Nigeria navigate and leverage this transformative trade platform.

Her commitment to reform has been recognized internationally, with her receiving the World Bank Ease of Doing Business Award for two consecutive years (2019 and 2020). Ms. Nwonu has represented Nigeria on several prestigious international delegations. She was part of the Nigerian delegation to the World Bank, where she successfully defended the country’s business climate reforms. Additionally, she attended the 5th Trade Policy Review of Nigeria at the World Trade Organization (WTO) in Geneva, showcasing her commitment to promoting Nigeria’s trade interests on the global stage.

Her professional affiliations are numerous, underscoring her leadership and involvement in the maritime industry. She is an active member of the Women’s International Shipping & Trading Association (WISTA) and previously held positions as Treasurer and Vice Chairperson of the Women in Logistics and Transport (WILAT). She is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) and the Nigerian Institute of Shipping (NIS).

Mrs Bernardine Ifeoma Eloka

MRS. BERNARDINE IFEOMA ELOKA

Mrs. Bernardine Ifeoma Eloka is the Vice President, Clarion Group of Companies providing employment for over 250 Nigerians, holds a B.Sc. in Accounting from the University of Lagos and a Bachelor of Laws Degree (L.L.B), National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN).

A multi-skilled personality, a scientist with bias in biology, Mrs. Eloka is also a seasoned chartered accountant, chartered arbitrator, chartered logistician and a chain management expert.

A tycoon with a restless urge to create opportunities in the nation’s green field Mrs. Eloka is the founder of Savol Integrated Logistics Nigeria Limited, Vancapris International Limited, Blossom International Limited, Flourish Shipping International Limited, Sorrowful Mystery Nigeria Limited, and Luminous Mystery Nigeria Limited.

Outside the maritime sector, she is the chairperson, Board of Trustees of Angus Dei Home of the little child Jesus, immediate past President (CWO) Catholic Church of the Annunciation, and Coordinator Festac Deanery (CWO).

Mrs. Bernardine has received numerous awards not just as a humanist and epitome of moral rectitude but significantly as pioneer in Nigeria’s efforts towards job creation and youth empowerment.

A member of many professional bodies , Mrs. Eloka is a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Shipping and Port Management Academy of Nigeria. For her impactful contributions to human capacity building and wealth creation, she has won many awards and gained high profile recognitions.

Mrs Chizoba Anyika

MRS. CHIZOBA CHRISTIANA ANYIKA

Amazon Mrs. Chizoba Anyika is an award winning top Maritime professional, founder and vision driver of Voice of Women (VoW) Foundation for Peace and Unity a platform for women empowerment election monitoring and diverse discourse on gender equality.

A product of intellectual house, Mrs. Chizoba Anyika holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Port Harcourt and a Masters degree in Marine Policy from the Prestigious Cardiff University Wales UK; and is currently pursuing a PhD program in Transport and Logistics at University of Port Harcourt.

She is the Advisory Board Chairperson, Women in Maritime and Energy (WIME) Awards, under which platform many professional women are being recognized, celebrated and decorated for their remarkable, outstanding, distinguished accomplishments.

Renown for breaking barriers, Mrs. Chizoba Anyika is the first female Spokesperson and National Publicity Secretary of the Chartered Institute of Transport Administration of Nigeria (CIOTA), the first female to be decorated at the African Women Impact Summit Awards in the Public transport Sector category in 2021.

She is a Board member of Maritime Handbook, member of African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) (transportation) working to progressively improve intra-Africa trade for African businesses to trade within the continent and benefit from the growing African market.

An esteemed award winner, she is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), Fellow and current Vice President, Nigeria Institute of Shipping (NIS), Fellow, Chartered Institute of Transport Administration of Nigeria (CIOTA). She has Fellowship with Galilee Institute Israel with many international and local leadership and Management training certifications.

Mrs. Anyika has continued to prove herself as a great leader and innovator. As the erstwhile Secretary of Women’s International Shipping and Trading Association (WISTA) Nigeria, she was nominated to represent the Association in international Executive in Hamburg, Germany. She is a member of international Diversity Group where she served for four years as the only African representative.

Mrs. Anyika speaks at many high level engagements and moderates many industry physical and virtual meetings. She has anchored many events organized by Voice of Women Foundation, CIOTA, NMASA-NCDMB etc. She featured as a panelist at the Zenith Bank international Seminar on Non- Oil Export held on 4th September 2024 in Lagos.

She loves family and balances work and family. As an only female of a family of five males, she grew up shattering glass houses, setting and breaking records, from pioneering the Voice of Women Foundation to partaking in the groundbreaking projects to leading major initiatives.

Hajiya Aisha Atiku Bagudu

HAJIYA AISHA ATIKU BAGUDU

Hajiya Aisha Atiku Bagudu is the esteemed Founder of the Mass Literacy For the Less Privilege and Almajiri Initiatives (MALLPAI Foundation,) a non-profit organization dedicated to improving access to education and empowering underprivileged communities in Nigeria. From 2015 to 2023, she served as the First Lady of Kebbi State, using her platform to champion causes related to education, health, and women’s empowerment.

Under her leadership, the MALLPAI Foundation implemented impactful programs focused on literacy promotion, Street children back to school enrollment, Almajiri child development initiatives, women and youth development and skills acquisition, particularly in rural and remote areas. Her initiatives have successfully enrolled thousands of out-of-school children back into classrooms and provided women and youth with opportunities for economic empowerment.

Mrs Bilkisu Usman

MRS. BILKISU USMAN

Mrs. Bilkisu Usman is a seasoned, professional banker with  extensive experience across several prestigious Institutions , including the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), where she served in various capacities, rising to the level of a Director.

Her close to 34 years career at the CBN exhibited significant contributions to  the Bank Operational and Financial Management which included amongst other responsibilities the conduct of Currency Policy Research, Review & Development as well as all issues that surrounds  The Maintenance, Advancement and balance of The integrity of our National Currency.

Mrs. Usman holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management and a Master of Business Administration, both from the Usman Dan Fodio University, Sokoto. Her strong academic background in Management and business Administration provided a solid foundation for her diverse and impactful career.

At the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mrs. Usman demonstrated exceptional leadership and strategic acumen, overseeing critical functions and initiatives that contributed to the stability and growth of Nigeria’s Monetary and Financial Sectors. Her roles at the CBN were marked by a commitment to excellence, innovation, and effective policy developments, with impactful implementation and successful outcomes.

In addition to her tenure at the CBN, Mrs. Usman has been an active contributor to national development through her participation as a former committee member of the National Climate Change Adaptation Committee, Police Trust Fund as well as her past role as a Special Adviser on Human Capital Development to the former Governor of Kebbi State. Mrs Nwaeze Theodora

MRS. NWAEZE THEODORA   

NWAEZE THEODORA was born in Lagos Nigeria into the family of MR & MRS EDWIN SAMBO. She hails from Bayelsa state. She had her primary and secondary education in Lagos state before proceeding to the Federal Polytechnic Offa for her Ordinary and Higher National Diploma certificates from 1999/2006. After her NYSC service in Lagos State she joined Landfall Transport & Towage Nigeria Limited (now known and addressed as L.T.T. Coastal & Marine Services Ltd.) in April 2007 where she served as the first indigenous black Administrative Personnel lady.

She holds an MBA in Shipping and Logistics and Masters Degree in Human Resources Management from Rome Business School. A member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (MCIPM), Mrs. Nwaeze Theodora also have a Diploma in Crewing Management.

She has over 17 years HR/Crewing experience in the maritime sector and major in Crewing Management, Recruitment & Selection, Training & Development, Human Resources Analytics, Grievance Procedures, Employee Engagement and Diversity & Inclusion.

Her vision is to see Female Seafarers grow in the maritime industry, particularly to work and stay onboard just like their male counterparts; and not satisfied that women seafarers are confined onboard tug boats in the capacity of Chief Deck Officers, Third Engineers and Deck and Engine Cadets.

Mrs. Nwaeze Theodora is presently the Group Human Resource Manager of the LTT Group of Companies, selected amongst others by the Nigerian Ports Authority to oversee the “Ship Management” aspect of the Towage, Mooring and Pilots transport within the Lagos Pilotage District, comprising mainly Apapa and Tin-can Ports including all approved jetties within the zone.

Amb. (Dr) Mrs. Unyime-Ivy King

Ambassador Dr. Mrs. Unyime-Ivy King is a multifaceted individual with a wealth of experience across various domains. She is a co-founder of Protection Plus Services Ltd, a private security, maritime and logistics company with headquarters in Lagos, Nigeria.

Following the passing of her husband, purpose and business partner, Dr. Ubong Thompson King in December 2020, she has assumed the role of Chairman of the business, steering it towards continued success, with the help of a seasoned team of professionals, despite her profound loss.

A prolific writer, esteemed conference speaker,  certified Marriage Mentor/Relationship Coach,  grief and loss counselor and a Mental Health and Addiction Therapist, Amb. Unyime-Ivy King’s passion for writing has been showcased in notable publications such as TW magazine, Vanguard Newspaper Ltd, Security and Safety Magazine, Green Pastures Magazine, and more.

This mobile enterprise program has left a profound mark across communities in Lagos State and beyond. At the helm of her foundation, Amb. Unyime-Ivy King established the Girls Leadership and Mentorship Club (GLAM) and launched the Girls Corner online mentoring group to address critical areas of family, relationships, and leadership for women.

Mrs Tina Kenechukwu

MRS TINA KENECHUKWU 

Born on April 7th in Awka, Anambra State, Tina embodies hope, compassion, and a powerful mission to uplift the less privileged  wrapped in  poverty. Through her extensive work in entrepreneurship, coaching, mentorship, evangelism, and philanthropy, she is a beacon of resilience and positive change with a mission to spread joy.

Through  a women-centric Amazon Project, Tina is committed to helping 10 million African women achieve financial independence and pursue their dreams.

She is a retired Medical Services Development Manager, having worked with two prestigious hospitals in Abuja. Her dedication to mental health led her to collaborate with one of the largest providers of mental health services in sub-Saharan Africa, overseeing over 100 government partnerships, including: CBN Clinic ,NNPC Clinic, Garki Hospital, FMC Jabi, ECOWAS Clinic, Foreign Affairs Clinic, among others.

From 2015-2017, Tina served as the Coordinator for the Reconnect Health Development Initiative, an international NGO championing mental health awareness.

 Being humanitarian – impact-minded, Tina’s dedication to humanity is evidenced through her tireless efforts to support others peoples’  success.  On Leadership and Empowerment,from 2012, Tina has served as a Women Leader in various church roles, and since 2010, she has been the Head of the “We Care Team,” leading outreach and community development programs. In 2020, she emerged as an Ambassador with the Amazon Project, a non-governmental initiative focused on training women to realize their true potential and supporting their ventures. She has numerous awards and achievements to her credit.

She has mentored over 20,000 women and raised over 50 women to become Amazon Project Ambassadors, each earning at least N500,000 monthly. Mrs. Vivian C. Richard-Edet currently serves as the Executive Director of Finance and Administration at the Nigerian Ports Authority, leveraging her multifaceted skill set across Retail, SMEs, Commercial and Corporate Banking, Trade Finance, Credit and Financial Analysis, and Product Development.

 With an illustrious career spanning over two decades, she stands out as a highly accomplished Financial Services Executive. Mrs. Richard-Edet has honed her extensive expertise through pivotal roles at distinguished financial institutions, including Senior Management positions at Standard Trust Bank, Skye Bank, and Polaris Bank.

 Before joining the Nigerian Ports Authority, she played a pivotal role in steering Polaris Bank through challenging phases of management and ownership changes, ensuring stability and profitability. Her strategic acumen shone brightly as she orchestrated growth and positive contributions to the Risk Asset portfolio across the expansive regions under her purview, overseeing 17 branches and leading a team of 172 individuals. Mrs Temilade Ogunniyi

MRS.  TEMILADE  OGUNNIYI

 Temilade Ogunniyi holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and an MBA in leadership and management from the Business School Netherlands (BSN). Her career spans across finance, IT, research, while her shipping experience cuts across the two top tier shipping lines and the premier container terminal in Nigeria.

She is the past Commercial Manager for APM Terminals. Incidentally, the first African to hold the position, where she provided leadership both the ocean and the landside activities, a development that has paved the way for more Africans holding leadership roles within the organization.

Her role entails steering initiatives towards achieving organizational goals with key responsibilities pertaining to Business Development, customer centricity, customer experience, system automation and the digitization of various interfaces with customers. She pioneered container barging across Lagos at the advent of the congestion in 2018 and contributed immensely to the deployment of rail across Lagos and Ogun states.

For her pioneering role in barging of containers at the Lagos port, she was honored with a special recognition award by the Barge Operators Association of Nigeria (BOAN) in 2021. She also played a significant role in reestablishing a berthing window arrangement at the ports to reduce the waiting time of ships and enhance cargo delivery in 2021.

This intervention led to the decongestion of the ports across West Africa. She is a well-known logistics and maritime expert who has built major long-term profit and productivity models, including identifying and launching winning strategies in shipping, container terminal, transportation and automations. She has worked with global teams on projects in Ho Chi Minh city (Vietnam), Monrovia (Liberia), Rotterdam (Netherlands), Valencia (Spain), Cotonou (Benin), Port Elizabeth New Jersey (USA) all geared towards maritime, port flow and service improvement.

 The reviews in all listed locations led to the adoption of like initiatives and processes in Apapa and the resultant attractiveness. Having recorded remarkable success at APM Terminals, Temi’s quest for adding tangible value in the Maritime industry led her take the decision to move on in March 2024, to establish a consulting company called Temerity International Experts, with specialization in automation.

The organization is working with both private and public organizations on problem solving, process review, change management, all with the end goal for automation, to drive efficiency. Following her remarkable achievements and success at APM Terminals, Temi left in March 2024 to establish Temerity International Experts (TIE) a consulting firm specializing in automation, as a means of bringing real value to the maritime sector. Temerity International Experts works on process reviews, change management, and problem solving with both public and private organizations, with the ultimate goal of automating these activities to increase efficiency.

 Her main motivation comes from the visible results she has recorded from her efforts and drive to shape and influence major polices and trends in the Maritime industry making her a significant contributor to the economy of Nigeria and an active global trade influencer. Another important motivational factor that cannot be overlooked is the confidence that innumerable stakeholders have developed in her over the years.

 Temi is a mentor to many young people, an ardent influencer who has built relationships with various stakeholders within the country and the international community. She has built a very good relationship with and is popularly known amongst the importers, exporters, freight forwarders, high-level suppliers, and global shippers into Nigeria. Temi has innumerable passions, prominent amongst which are the passion for problem solving and strength for finding solutions, organizational management with a defined vision and networking.

Mrs. Rollens Macfoy is a seasoned Maritime Administrator of 22 years and a specialist in Cabotage and Maritime Labour Mediation. She is the chief executive officer of Ocean Deep Services Limited,a vessel labour crewing and manning firm in Lagos.

A professional Crewing and Manning expert, Rollens Macfoy is trained in United Kingdom and different countries of the world.

She is a tested hand on several multi – national oil & gas and shipping companies as well as Blue Economy jobs  as well as government assignments and projects in Nigeria and Africa at large.

She is the current President of Women in Maritime Africa (Nigeria chapter); Chairperson, Maritime Security & Environmental Protection

  for WIMAFRICA. (A Blue Economy based association established by African Union (AU).

Her industry and dedication to duty earned Agip vessel registration consultancy, among many other briefs in the energy sector. She equally worked as a resource person for House of Representatives, NIMASA, African Union and many other international Maritime Seminars and events outside the country.  

She holds a Bachelor of Science(B.Sc) degree in Public Administration; Master’s degree in Industrial Labour Relations obtained from the University of Lagos; Post –graduate degree in Maritime Law gotten from London Metropolitan University in United Kingdom, among other educational qualifications and academic laurels.

She founded the Ocean Deep Maritime Academy and presides over it as the Rector.

She read  Accounting and got chartered with time and began a thriving consultancy firm in Maitama, Abuja having had a stint as a civil servant. She would later transition into politics with humanitarian exploit aimed at making leaderships have a human face.
