NECA to boost export with more local production
The Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association has begun moves to boost export increasing local production capacity of its members.
A statement by NECA said that a deliberate structural policy towards improving its export beyond primary products should be encouraged by the government in collaboration with critical stakeholders in the value chain.
In the statement, the Director-General of NECA, Adewale Oyerinde, said the move would help reduce the consistent depletion of the country’s foreign reserves and rising trade deficits.
He said, “We call for more deliberate attitude and drive in increasing local production for export potentials. A deliberate structural policy towards improving our export beyond primary products should be encouraged in collaboration with critical stakeholders in the value chain, so as to reduce the consistent depletion of our foreign reserves and rising trade deficits”
He added, “With a struggling economy moving towards collapse due to increasing debt, dwindling revenue, rising energy cost, high unemployment rate, policy contradictions among others.”
