ANLCA Crisis: AREFFN Wants CRFFN To Delist Complicit Practitioners

By Kenneth Jukpor

Following the crisis at the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) which culminated to an attack at its national secretariat by some thugs recently, the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) has been encouraged to delist practitioners involved in the heinous act.

The Association of Registered Freight Forwarders in Nigeria (AREFFN) made this appeal in a consolidatory message to ANLCA and made available to MMS Plus newspaper.

The AREFFN statement signed by its President, Mr. Bala Lawan Daura and National Secretary, Mr. Ichie Frank Obiekezie read; “While thanking God that lives were not lost, we recommend that the CRFFN joins the Security Agencies in their investigations to unmask the brains behind this heinous act. The perpetrators should be sanctioned and possibly be taken out of the system permanentiy.”

AREFFN stressed that as a sister AssoclatIon in the same profession, it is greatly pained that a simple internal dispute, which could have been resolved as a family issue was allowed to simmer to this boiling point at ANLCA.

“We write to commiserate with you in particular, and the entire ANLCA family in general on the mindless, cowardly and most irresponsible violent attack on your head office on Tuesday 6th October, 2020 which resulted in damage to property and loss of valuable documents.”

“We wish to condemn, in very strong terms, the resort to application of violence in resolving lntra-Association disputes. Our unreserved solidarity remains with you in these your trying times,” AREFFN said.

Recall that the Registrar of CRFFN, Barr. Samuel Nwakohu had stated that the Council was perplexed by the unending conflict at ANLCA.

Nwakohu said this last week while addressing newsmen on the commencement of Practitioners Operating Fees (POF) collection at the Western ports.
