Five people were killed and 100 others injured in a stampede before a concert at a stadium in Algiers, on Thursday last week as over 45,000 fans were involved in a struggle to get into a stadium at the central Algiers before a concert by Algerian rapper, Abderraouf Derradji, also known as Soolking.
The dead were two girls, two boys and a 21-year-old man, the civil defence added in a statement on Friday last week. While the event turned out to be a mortality concert, it is stramnge that the authorities allowed the concert to go on as scheduled and it was shown live on state Algerian television.
