The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has reassured port stakeholders that the organization is working tirelessly to ensure that the ports environment is business friendly to encourage investments and allow seamless operations at the ports.
The General Manager, Corporate and Strategic Communications of the Authority, Engr. Adams Jatto said gave this assurance last week while he stressed that everything the management has been doing over the years was to put in place measures that will translate to an efficient system at the ports.
The NPA General Manager who was speaking to the executive members of the League of Maritime Editors and Publishers (LOMEP) during a visit to his office, noted that a business friendly environment would be advantageous to the industry and the nation at large as it would guarantee increased revenue generation from the ports.
He said this was why the management tackled the rehabilitation of Apapa port access road with other stakeholders.
However, he assured that the Federal Government through the Ministry of Works will be tackling the Tin Can Island –Mile 2 road next, adding that this will address the issue of gridlock that is being suffered currently along the axis.
Jatto revealed that the NPA management has been making suggestions to ensure that the Tin Can Island port access road is rehabilitated, noting that this will end all the traffic issues on that route.
According to him, the philosophy of the NPA management led by its Managing Director, Ms Hadiza Bala-Usman is to work tirelessly to achieve good results for the interest of the port sector and the nation in general.
Earlier in his speech, the President of LOMEP, Mr. Kingsley Anaroke commended the organization for the training programme it organized recently in collaboration with Premium Times Services Limited for journalists covering the industry.
Anaroke described the training programme as strategic and apt as it broadened the understanding of journalists covering the beat.
Anaroke, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Kings Communications Limited, publishers of MMS Plusnewspaper, revealed that the conference had equipped journalists for better investigative journalism and developmental reportage.
