 Port Sanitization Critical To Operational Efficiency- ED Marine & Operations NPA

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has reiterated its resolve to make the nation’s seaports a pride worthy of emulation in line with international standards through the adherence to better sanitization and improved environment for a most efficient service delivery in a safe, secure operational abode.

The Executive Director, Marine and Operations of the Authority, Dr. Sokonte Davies who visited Tin Can Island Port Complex during his facility appreciation tour of the Western Ports stated that his tour was fast tracked by Management in the adherence to the dictates of the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO’s) injunction concerning occupational, health, security and safety.

Dr. Davies enjoined all staff to ensure that the port environment is kept clean and free from dirts like junks and scraps.

According to him, “this would go a long way to portray the nation’s seaport in good light before the international community and stakeholders”.

According to the Executive Director, the NPA management was determined turn things around in its quest at improving on the existing facilities and services to all stakeholders.

He affirmed that these would impart positively on the revenue generation of the Organization which is one of the major thrust of the current Management, thereby playing out in our GDP boost.

In addition, he charged the port management to ensure that it comes up with a realistic budget on its basic needs as soon as possible which would aid and eventually facilitate the quick and efficient delivery of services to our numerous clients.

He was accompanied on the tour by the General Managers, Marine and Operations Headquarters, Mr. Joshua Asanga, Monitoring and Compliance Western Ports, Capt. Iheanacho Ebubeogu, Health, Safety and Environment Headquarters, Mallam Yusuf Ahmed and Arch. Biodun Gbadamosi.
