In recognition of his hard work, contribution to the development of the youth and consistency in service delivery, Mr. Solomon Chukwu, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Solochus Group of companies has been honoured with awards for Youth Empowerment for and Best Waste Management COMAPNY in Orile Agege by the Orile Agege Local Council Development Area (LCDA) Community Development Committee (CDC).
The event which took place last week at Orile Agege Local Council Development Area Secretariat premises in Lagos with the theme: 5th Orile-Agege Community Day Celebration, Merit Award presentation and Fund Raising Ceremony, saw sixteen persons given awards in several genres of life where they have made marks and impacted on the society positively.
Speaking with MMS Plus Weekly, Mr. Chukwu said he was elated to have been so honoured as he never expected it even as he was surprised that people can honour him for the paid service he renders to them.
He however said this will spur him to greater efficiency and to make sure he achieved better feat than this in his life time adding that the company has been serving as waste management firm in the community for the past eight years while adducing the cordial relationship between the organisation and the community to consistency in service delivery.
Asked what the challenges have been so far, he said, “We live in a society where challenges are part of life. The most one that everyone is aware of is payment, you render service and to pay you becomes difficult.”
“I am highly impressed in the sense that those who we render service to that pay to still say we deserve an award, that is exceptional,” he stated.
The Chairman of the Community Development Committee (CDC), Alhaji Yusuf Agboola while answering questions from our correspondent, said Mr. Chukwu is a very diligent person who does not toil with his job and has also contributed immensely to the empowerment of youth in the area.
Speaking further, the Chairman said that the CEO of Solochus deserved the award considering his resilience and patriotism towards the people despite his young age.
Mrs Precious Solomon, wife of the awardee, said she was not surprised at the honour bestowed on her husband as she said he even deserved more than that for his contribution to the growth and development of the community and hard work.
“He is a very good man and humble. When you marry a humble man, it is the best. He doesn’t look down n people and he likes helping a lot. He can even deny himself of many things just to be able to render help to somebody,” she enthused.
