As part of efforts to mark the International Workers Day celebrated on May 1st annually, the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) has commended workers all over the world, particularly colleagues in the nation’s maritime industry.

ANLCA made this known in a press release published today, where it singled out the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) for special commendation.

The statement signed by ANLCA President, Hon. Tony Iju Nwabunike said, “We celebrate Nigerian maritime workers sincerely, because we owe them more than they are paid. We know that without them a maritime nation, like ours, will never exist let alone grow. ANLCA sees the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) and other workers as our formidable partners.”

“We remember your efforts not only at protecting workers rights but also at championing the interest of the majority of Nigerians. Indeed your acts of selflessness are second to none and has not gone unnoticed as we reminicise on the benefits of your labour to our common good,” ANLCA said about MWUN.

The freight forwarding association also noted that the worker’s union has made many interventions and suggested ideas and policies needing redirection for government, in many instances without promoting Industrial disharmony.

“We celebrate your contributions because without you the nation’s desires for greater economy, flourishing commerce, improved social life would have remained a mirage. ANLCA’s partnership with you and the entire labour movements in the maritime industry will remain evergreen putting the interest of majority first and being truthful, fair and dedicated”

“You are our strength, you are our workforce, you are our persons on the frontlines of keeping the ports working even in the face of Covid19 pandemic that has affected everywhere, including the maritime world. Happy Workers Day!,” ANLCA added.
