WILAT Urges Women To Bridge Gender Inequality Through Branding
The Women In Logistics And Transport (WILAT), has advised women to bridge the gender inequality gap through proper branding of their person and businesses.
The National Woman Leader and member of the Board of Trustees of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Barr. Sharon Ikeazor, who stated this, pointed out that lack of proper branding is one of the reasons men are biased to giving business opportunities to women owned businesses.
She spoke at The 3rd Annual Conference and dinner of the association, with the theme: Women and Entrepreneurship in a Competitive Environment Beyond; Professionalism, in Lagos, last week.
According to her, “it is important to observe certain business ethics such as branding of yourself and your companies, hire professional corporate organizations to brand your business, put all contracts into writing and employ only people who can add value to your company” she advised.
Earlier, the Founder and Global Convener WILAT, Hajia Aisha Ali Ibrahim, in her keynote address, expressed her pleasure at the support the association has enjoyed among women in the industry from all around the world.
Similarly, Senator Abdul Abubakar assured that the National Assembly would ensure that appropriate gender sensitive laws are passed to assist the sector.
He promised that they would do all things humanly possible to bring the change expected from the new government, he also encouraged women to do more for the industry when he acknowledged the efforts of the Convener through WILAT, which has enjoyed the support of women all over the world.
The wife of the Executive Governor of Ogun State, Mrs. Olufunso Amosun, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Bar. Folashade Adeoluwa, received an award for Role Model of Women in Nigeria, which she dedicated to the advancement of women in all spheres of life.
Other awardees includes: Hajia Aisha Ali-Ibrahim, founder WILAT, Princess Dr. Mrs. Victoria Haastrup, Mrs. Lizzie Ogodinma Ovbude, Iyalode Alaba Lawson, Mrs. Caro Ufere, among others.
