We’ll Crack Down On Fake Products’ Importers – SON
The Director-General of the Standards Organisation of Nigerian, Mallam Farouk Salim, on Wednesday, restated the agency’s commitment to rid the Nigerian market of fake and substandard products in view of the negative health implications and other effects.
Salim said the SON was desirous of stepping up its crackdown on manufacturers and importers of substandard and adulterated products including drugs, tyres and electrical/building materials in the country in the interest of Nigerians’ wellness and wellbeing.
The DG, represented by the Ekiti State Coordinator, Mr Oyebola Ayeni, spoke in Ado Ekiti during the presentation of Mandatory Conformity Assessment Programme certificate to Bamiluc Global Resources, manufacturers of Bride Table Water.
He urged local producers and importers of fake products to have a change of heart or be dealt with according to the provision of the law.
“Any fake products’ producers or importers caught would be made to regret his her action through confiscation, outright closure and blacklisting of erring manufacturing company,” he said.
The representative of the company, Mr Biodun Badmus, who lauded the management of the regulatory body for the certification, said, “Bamiluc will do everything possible to always maintain the new status with the excellent compliance it required.”
