Submit your monthly account details, Reps tell NFF
The House of Representatives has told the Nigeria Football Federation to submit their monthly account details to ensure transparency and accountability in the federation.
Chairman, House Committee on Sports, Olumide Osoba, stated this when the NFF, led by its president, Amaju Pinnick, visited the committee members at the National Assembly on Wednesday.
The committee also urged the NFF to ensure Nigeria qualified for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
“You must ensure Super Eagles qualify for the World Cup in Qatar 2022 because that is what Nigerians expect from you. Nigerians will not forgive you if we fail to qualify for the World Cup,” Osoba told the NFF.
“We shall give you all the necessary support to ensure that our flag is hoisted in Qatar as one of the countries that qualified, but you must be transparent and show accountability in all you do so that we have a good working relationship.
“To this end I want you to make available to the committee your monthly account details for the purpose of transparency and accountability. It became necessary to request the account details in order to enable Nigerians know that the House is committed to ensuring accountability in sports administration in Nigeria.”
Osoba said the committee decided to meet with the NFF after the country’s poor performance in age-grade tournaments in 2019.
He also said the House of Reps would monitor all elections conducted by the federation.
Reacting, NFF president, Pinnick, promised to cooperate with the House of Reps, by making available all the account details requested by the lawmakers.
