AIB Begins Investigation On Osinbajo’s Helicopter CrashBy Okuneye Moyosola

The Accident Investigation Bureau has urged the public to support the ongoing investigation process on the circumstances that led to the crash of a helicopter conveying the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and other passengers to Kabba, Kogi State.

According to AIB, the masses could assist through the provision of video clips or any information related to the recent crash of an AgustaWestland 139 helicopter which had Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and other passengers on board.

The Chief Executive Officer, AIB, Mr. Akin Olateru, also said that the agency would provide necessary information concerning the accident soon and urged persons with useful information to kindly contact the agency via its official communication channels as stated on its website.

He charged the press and the public to please respect the privacy of the people involved and not to preempt the cause of the accident.

Olateru commended the professionalism of the rescue team, stressing that both the passengers and the crew survived the accident as a result of their timely intervention.

He also assured the public of a detailed, thorough and timely investigation and urged them not to apportion blame.

According him, accident investigation is about fact-finding and making safety recommendations to prevent future occurrences

Recall that on February 2, 2019, at 2:31pm, an AgustaWestland 139 helicopter with Nigerian registration mark, 5N-CML and serial number: 31389, owned and operated by Cavenon Helicopters crash-landed in Kabba, Kogi State with a total of 12 people on board including the Vice-president, Yemi Osinbajo.
