Oodua Descendant Freight Forwarders Association (ODFFA) will celebrate its fifth anniversary this week as the group celebrates eminent freight forwarders and explore headway for the profession in Nigeria.

The anniversary is scheduled to hold on Thursday, May 27, 2021, at Welcome Event Centre, Airport Road, Oshodi, Lagos with the Registrar of NAGAFF Academy, Fwrd Francis Omotosho, as the Guest Speaker.

Meanwhile, the Chairmen of the day are former deputy governor of the State of Osun, Senator Iyiola Omisore and CEO SIFAX Group, Chief Taiwo Afolabi while the Distinguished Guest of Honour is the Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Mudashiru Obasa.

Speaking with journalist in Lagos earlier today, the founder of ODFFA, Prince Segun Adefioye noted that the annual event is to celebrate and reward professional excellence among Yoruba freight forwarders and also reward non-professionals who have contributed to the growth of the profession and Yoruba development in Nigeria.

He added that the most important thing for ODFFA is to make professionals out of its members which cuts across the six registered Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) associations.

On the importance of the anniversary, he said that it is an opportunity for the association to appraise the growth of Yoruba in the freight forwarding profession in Nigeria and also to see how to improve it.

He added that the event is a cultural celebration with lots of personalities have shortlisted to receive awards, noting that no fewer than three non-Yoruba freight forwarders have been given awards since inception.

While urging freight forwarders to be genuine in their declaration to government, he reiterated that the group doesn’t support any form of lawlessness.

His words: “We have over 2000 members in ODFFA and since our inception, we’ve been training and retraining our members through conferences, workshops and seminars. We educate and sensitize members and even non-members on their rights and privileges and modern freight forwarding practice. We make them understand that we don’t support ingenue declaration or short change and encourage them to make payment on all duties.”
