Following incessant attacks on trucks by hoodlums at Orile-Apapa link bridge, the Nigerian Port Consultative Council(NPCC) has cried out to the government to checkmate the activities of these hoodlums at Ijora.

Latest of the attack was last week Friday, when some hoodlums armed with machetes and other dangerous weapons attacked a female trucker, Mrs Peace Afahaeme ,a member of PCC at the same spot,at about 11 pm.

Narrating her ordeal, Mrs Afahaeme told MMS Plus that she had just passed her truck and was about leaving, when she sighted some hoodlum armed with dangerous weapons coming towards her apparently to attack her.

“As I saw them coming towards me, clutching machetes and other weapons,I quickly picked a stone and threw it at them. I managed to escape. It was around 11 pm,” she said

She said that was not the first time she would be attacked at that same spot. She recalled that sometime ago, one of her truck drivers was attacked and inflicted with head injuries.

“We have written to the Lagos State Government over these attacks, and they responded by sending security personnel there and they chased them away but they later regrouped

Reacting to the development, Mr Bolaji Sunmola ,also a member of PCC,who stood in for the Chairman of the Council, Otunba Kunle Folarin, at the Council’s meeting on Friday, noted that the Council had been getting reports of the activities of the hoodlums at the place and said they will take the matter up with the Lagos State Government
