NPA’s Shinning Amazon @56
Recently, the Port Manager of Lagos Ports Complex (LPC), Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Mrs. Olufunmilayo Olotu turned 56.
Wherever her name is mentioned, it’s usually in an ambience to celebrate excellence, dexterity, professionalism and patriotism.
Olotu is a port administrator par excellence. A bundle of excitement; a woman with a well of love of her subordinates and superiors. A woman who gets the job done and in due time.
As an astute regulator, she compels the regulated, especially terminal operators to behave in a manner expected by the government and the port industry without having to engage in a brawl. It is not that she shies away from battles, the truth is that she wins many before getting to the battlefield. Or when she arrives the battlefront, only a handshake or a short meeting sees the impasse resolved. What a unique trait of a shrewd negotiator and a result-driven personality!
Barely three months ago, she emerged the “Best Performing Port Manager” in Nigeria and the award was presented to her by the acting Managing Director of NPA, Mr. Mohammed Bello-Koko.
The award was presented to Olotu by the executive management of NPA during a Management Retreat which held in Lagos.
Prior to her appointment as Lagos Port Complex Manager, Olotu had served as Calabar Port Manager for three years with commendations from the Nigerian Ports Authority and the Cross River State government and the Obong of Calabar for bringing efficiency to the port system.
In 2019, she was redeployed to the Lagos Port Complex Apapa as Port Manager.
Her strides has no doubt yielded much fruit as evident in debt recovery, increase in Lagos port revenue and improvement in port processes within the last two years.
With her golden aura, she is able to bring beauty and harmony to the world; whether it is touching the lives of her workforce, negotiating best deals for the port sector with various industry stakeholders, caring and supporting females and women-driven businesses and initiatives.
Madam Olotu is a true maritime Amazon!
Keep blazing new trails!
Hearty Congratulations ma!
