NIMASA DG ‘Jamoh’ Picks N50m APC Kaduna Governorship Form
By Kenneth Jukpor
The Director General of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Bashir Jamoh has purchased the Expression of Interest and Nomination Form for Kaduna governorship at the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Jamoh purchased the N50million form yesterday, joining the list of high profile bigwigs jostling for the Kaduna gubernatorial seat.
MMS Plus recalls that the NIMASA boss indicated in a media parley with maritime journalists in January that he wouldn’t be able to resist the call to serve his immediate constituency (Kaduna State) as Governor.
Jamoh has over 29 years public service experience. He had served in the Kaduna State Government before transferring his services to the then National Maritime Authority (NMA) in 1994.
Dr. Jamoh was the Executive Director, Finance & Administration in NIMASA before his appointment as the agency’s Director General. Prior to that, he was the Assistant Director in NIMASA in charge of Training and Development.
He is also the President of Chartered Institute of Transport Administration (CIOTA) Nigeria. Dr. Jamoh holds a Ph.D in Logistics and Transport Management from the University of Port Harcourt, a Master’s degree in Management from the Korea Maritime and Ocean University in South Korea, among others.
Meanwhile, there are reports that Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai has picked Senator representing Kaduna Central District, Uba Sani as his preferred candidate in the forthcoming 2023 governorship election.
A retired Assistant Comptroller General of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Alhaji Bashir Abubakar has also declared his intention and purchased to vie for the Governorship of Kaduna State in 2023.
However, pending changes in the new Electoral law, the NIMASA boss may be affected by the Section 84 (12) of the law which stipulates that “No political appointee at any level shall be a voting delegate or be voted for at the Convention or Congress of any political party for the purpose of the nomination of candidates for any election.”
