New Executives Emerge In Tin Can Chapter Of AREFFN
Mr. Jude Ige emerged unopposed in the Tin can Chapter election of the Association of Registered Freight Forwarders, Nigeria (AREFFN) held in Lagos, yesterday.
Among the nine positions opened for contest, only two positions saw actual contest as the remaining seven positions were unopposed.
The nine man executive of the chapter is expected to pilot the affairs of the chapter for the next four years.
The two contested positions include the post of the public Relations Officer (PRO) where Mr. Isaac Okoh defeated the duo of Dennis Atuokwu and Comrade Olu Jude olu and the ex-officio where Mr. Clement Abajue was dusted by Pastor Christopher Eke, Comrade Samsudeen Olufowobi and Nze Anayo Oleb.
However, Deacon Kevin Orisakwe emerged the Vice Chairman while Comrade Nvula Edogi was elected secretary of the chapter; Dare Johnson is the new financial secretary and James Eke who is the new Assistant Secretary.
Speaking shortly after the election, the newly elected chairman said that the chapter would witness some levels of transformation adding that part of his agenda was to ensure a synergy among the various freight forwarding associations members.
He said, “As far as you are a stakeholder in the port operations at Tin Can Island port; we will all work in unity
“Part of my primary assignment is that we the agents irrespective of our association must work together,” he added.
He however said that he would meet with other executive members on how to put a befitting chapter secretariat in place for the members stating that the executive would lay a foundation for other members to follow adding, “We are going to come out successful.”
