Nasarawa to complete abandoned N5.4bn power plant
The Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has said his administration will complete the ex-Governor Abdullahi Adamu’s abandoned N5.4bn Farin-Ruwa Independent Power Plant in the state.
Adamu, who was the first civilian governor of the state, now Senator representing Nasarawa West at the National Assembly, awarded the project in 2004.
Sule spoke on Wednesday after inspecting the 15.5km Sisin Baki-Kwarra road, as part of activities marking his one year in office.
He said with the Federal Ministry of Water Resources constructing another dam in the area, the state government was looking at completing the project.
According to him, the state is looking to generate additional 20 megawatts from the Farin Ruwa waterfalls.
He said his administration had embarked on the construction of the Sisin Baki-Kwarra rural feeder road in a bid to boost tourism and agriculture.
The governor expressed joy that in spite of the challenges posed by the coronavirus pandemic, work was progressing steadily, saying the job would be completed on time.
