Maritime Sector Lost An Asset With Capt Biu’s Demise – Bello

As Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) and the entire maritime community in Nigeria mourns the passing on of former Executive Secretary of NSC, Capt. Adamu Biu, his demise has been described as a loss for the nation’s shipping industry.
The present Executive Secretary of NSC, Mr. Hassan Bello said this in a press statement yesterday, even as he noted that the nation has lost a rare gem.
Gloom was cast over the headquarters of Shippers’ Council, Apapa when the news of the demise of Capt Biu filtered in.
Capt Biu was the third and immediate past Executive Secretary/CEO of NSC and served two terms from (2004 – 2012)
Biu brought his wealth of experience as a Master Mariner to connect the NSC to the industry and is credited with pioneering works on Dry Ports and the regulatory status of the NSC.
He was an internationalist who worked assiduously with Shippers’ Councils in Africa thereby bringing regional collaboration which subsists till date.
Bello said that Capt Biu personified professionalism, astute administration and knowledge. He stabilized the Council and led it at its most critical phase.
