LTT& Depasa Win 2024 Maritime Gender Sensitive Company
LTT Coastal and Marine Services and its sister company Depasa Marine were given award as Nigeria’s Maritime Gender Sensitive Company of the year 2024. The award was recognition of their high-level employment of seafarers
This award was presented at the recent one-day maritime seminar organized by African Women in Maritime (WIMA) Nigeria for shipping stakeholders in Lagos.
At the event themed; “Blue Economy and Professional Capacity Building for the Next Generation” the President of WIMA Nigeria, Mrs. Rollens Macfoy, described LTT and Depasa as a symbol of triumph and an epitome of success in promoting women involved in seafaring.
While receiving the award, the Group Human Resources Manager, LTT Coastal and Marine Services Limited, Mrs. Theodora Nwaeze, said the company has more than 30 female seafarers onboard its vessels.
Her words: “We are really excited and honoured to have been given this award. At LTT Marine, we have West Africa’s first female Captain of an Azimuthing Stern Drive (ASD) tug, which is a type of tugboat with two thrusters under the stern.
“Our passion is to see that we crew one of vessels with all female seafarers. We are hopeful that we can achieve an female crew on one of our vessels in 2025.”
