Lagos International Maritime Week Seeks Greener Shipping Through Technology
To reposition the maritime sector for greater efficiency by providing solutions to the challenges confronting Africa and Nigeria in the maritime industry, the Lagos International Maritime Week(LIMWeek), 2022 has been schechuled to hold between 13th and 15th September, 2022 at the Oriental Hotels, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The annual event which is designed to find lasting solutions to the challenges in the industry provides a platform for stakeholders , regulators and policy- makers to converge and brainstorm for a better industry.
The LIMWeek is a private sector initiative that has received the support of the federal government of Nigeria , through the regular participation of the Nigerian Navy, the Federal Ministry of Transportation and the parastatals under her.
It is an international event which provides an opportunity for Nigeria to cement relationship with trading partners and draws participants from both local and internationally.
According to a press release from the organisers,”LIMWEEK, acts as a stimulant and catalyst in the development of the maritime industry in Africa .It uses the annual themes of the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO)World Maritime Day in formulating the subject matter of its annual discourse. Thus the theme of LIMWEEK 2022 is: “New Technologies For Greener Shipping In Africa”
Recall that last year ,His Excellency Sune KROGSTRUP the ambassador of Denmark to Nigeria gave the goodwill message. This year’s goodwill message will be delivered by Her Excellency Emmanuelle BLATMANN, the ambassador of France to Nigeria
The programme commences with an annual lecture on any subject, given by a distinguished member of the maritime and business community in Nigeria or abroad.This year’s lecture will be delivered by Otunba Kunle FOLARIN , an icon in the Nigerian maritime industry and Chairman, Ports Consultative Forum ( PCCF).
Others who have delivered the annual lecture in the past include :

Apart from the annual. lecture,there will also be International Maritime Business to Business Conference and Exhibition .The conference is organized in the form of round tables on various subjects namely :Maritime Transportation ,Logistics and Port Development; Maritime Security in the Gulf of Guinea;Marine Environment;Maritime Training, Education, Law & Arbitration ;Women in Maritime.
