Jean-Chiazor Set To Launch ‘Essays In Admiralty’ Volume 3

Jean Chiazor and Company, a renowned legal outfit in Nigeria invites all stakeholders in the maritime industry to the launch of its latest book, Volume 3 ofEssays in Admiralty” which covers the global perspective of shipping, on Thursday, March 8th, 2018.

According to the author, Barr. Jean-Chiazor, Principal Counsel, Jean Chiazor & Co. (Ofianyi Chambers), “The book appraises shipping practice in America, Asia and Europe; comparing the norms in these continents with the practice in Nigeria and other African countries. The aim is to enable Nigeria aim at the best global practices because shipping is international by nature.”

The book launch also features a public presentation and the event is in honour of Justice Ibrahim Auta, OFR, former Chief Judge of the Federal High Court of Nigeria.

The event will take place by 10am at the Federal Palace, Victoria Island Lagos.

Speaking to MMS Plus during an exclusive chat, Barr. Jean-Chiazor Anishere said the decision to honour Justice Auta was “in appreciation of his laudable contributions to the growth of maritime jurisprudence with particular reference to the Federal High Court. Justice Auta has continued from where his predecessors took the Federal High Court rules with particular reference to Admiralty jurispundence to another level as we have had cause to review some of the rules in order to bring them to the level of international standards”

Jean-Chiazor described Justice Auta as a ‘jurist’s magnificient’ when it comes to issues of education for judges.

“He is magnificient in ensuring the continuous education of judges of the Federal High Court”, Jean-Chiazor said.

The event also provides an invaluable opportunity for industry players, maritime lawyers, ship-owners, government and investors to network and it is expected to have notable speakers.
