IIMS Launches Nigerian Branch, Inaugurates Excos
Recently, the Nigerian chapter of the International Institute of Marine Surveying (IIMS) was flagged off as the executives were elected into various positions and inaugurated by the IIMS Regional Director for West Africa, Mr. Monday Ogadina.
The inaugural meeting was to formally establish the IIMS Nigeria Branch as the world body had directed at the seventh international venture which took place on 31 May 2016.
Only recently, IIMS had appointed Mr. Monday Ogadina as the Regional Director for West Africa and given him the responsibility to ensure the creation of national chapters within the region.
IIMS CEO, Mike Schwarz during his welcome address, narrated the process that had taken place in order to make the Nigerian branch a reality. He also admonished the delegates as well as the new Committee members to exhibit strength and wisdom in their new venture.
Meanwhile, Mr. Monday Ogadina commenced the election of officers having announced to the members earlier that every position was vacant for any member to stand for. He introduced the self nomination, open voting, open counting and open declaration of any member with highest number of cast votes to be declared as the winner.
The newly elected IIMS Nigeria Branch Committee is as follows; Chairman- Engr. Emeraku Ijioma, Secretary- Capt. Peter Onwordi and Treasurer- Mr. Peter Enerichekor. The new executives were inaugurated by the Regional Director after the polls.
Other Committee members include; Mr. Benson Aja- Ukpabi, Capt. A Olopoena, Mr. Raph Opara, Engr. Ndudi Kusi Onyibe, Capt. Tajudeen Alao, Capt. Oladipupo A Olubowale.
