ICAN Synergizes With Five Star Logistics

As part of tour to notable personalities and organizations, the Lagos Mainland and District Society (LMDS) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) has gone into partnership with the management team of Five Star Logistics.
The ICAN group reached this synergy on Tuesday, last week in Lagos, when they visit Five Star Logistics Company.
While thanking the management for accepting the visit, the ICAN LMDS Chairman and leader of the delegation, Mrs. Ngozi Osakwe-Ogo said the motive of the visit was to interact with the management team, intimate them with the activities of the district and also identify areas of co-operation with Five Star Logistics.
Mrs. Osakwe-Ogo remarked that LMDS which came into existence in 1992 with 22 members had grown to a membership capacity of 2,750 as at 2017 and that the District has produced a past president of ICAN and currently has about 10 members in Council, the highest governing body in ICAN.
Enumerating the activities of the District, the Chairman said in order to encourage the younger ones to take interest in accountancy, the “Catch Them Young Programmes” which include; quiz competitions, career talks where prizes are given to deserving students in secondary schools within the jurisdiction coupled with training programmes for members of staff of various organizations on topical and emerging issues are embarked on even as she announced the willingness of the district to design and carry out quality staff training via on-site or off-site model for Five Star Logistics.
“The district’s activities climaxes with the presidential visit on March 27, 2018 with such features as familiarization tour, lecture, presidential dinner and launching of N50million building fund.
“We are using this medium to invite your organization as A Special Guest to the Presidential Dinner and N50 Million building project.” She said.
Reacting on behalf of the Management team, the Group Managing Director (GMD), Five Star Logistics and Comet Shipping Agency, Mr. P. L. Carrodano expressed delight at the visit he described as “wonderful and very significant”.
According to him, ICAN plays a strategic role for the development of Nigeria in general and not limited to a particular sector. He therefore said that ICAN as a distinguished institution which plays a major role in Nigeria will always be supported by Five Star.
“ICAN is an institution which follows the accounting systems of companies. I am very excited and happy to interact with them on these important matters; I promise that we shall give maximum cooperation to ICAN. We have exchanged interesting points of view and it is a matter of following the law of the country; Stricter compliance with the law is very important to the progress of any country.” He said.
The ICAN delegation was thereafter taken to the company’s Tin Can Island terminal to sight see its facilities.
