Five Star Logistics Terminal Grants Storage Waivers On Request - GMBy Kenneth Jukpor

The Five Star Logistics Terminal has stated that it has been complying with the directive of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) to waive storage charges at the terminal.

According to the General Manager, Five Star Logistics Terminal, Mr. Wolfgang Schneider the company has been granting waiver for cargoes when requested by clients.

Wolfgang revealed this to MMS Plus newspaper at the weekend in a bid to clarify the company’s position on the appeal for waivers as directed by NPA.
Referring to an earlier publication on MMS Plus, titled “Shipping Companies, Terminals Ignore FG Directive To Suspend Charges”, the Five Star Logistics boss said, “There has to be a correction to your article. We are granting rent waivers for cargo when requested by receivers, especially on vehicles”

According to him, the onus lies on freight agents and shippers to demand waivers on storage charges at the Five Star Terminal located at Tin Can Island Port, Lagos.

It should be noted that NPA would grant credit notes commensurate to the rental reliefs granted by the terminal operators to consignees within the free storage period.

The directive to suspend rent charges on consignments was targeted to provide relief to businesses following the scourge of the COVID-19 pandemic.
