CTN Kicks Off At Last
Barr, Hassan Bello, Executive Secretary/ Chief Executive Officer (CEO) the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC)

The Advanced Cargo Tracking Notes (ACTN) of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) has kicked off yesterday after a sensitisation programme for shippers and their agents at  the Council on Monday.

The ACTN which was introduced in cargo clearance process in 2013  but was labelled expensive and consequently, discarded after a loud outcry from shippers has been re-introduced with the reassurance that it will be at no extra cost to shippers.

Shippers and agents who were seen registering at the Apapa office of the Council yesterday, expressed optimism that the CTN will indeed improved the process of clearing cargo at the ports since the contents of each of their container will be captured electronically long before the cargo arrives in Nigeria.

Similarly, the NSC as the ports regulator under the leadership of Barr. Hassan Bello has enthusiastically promoted the initiative of the reintroduction of the ACTN, stressing that it is operated in other developed countries of the world and to make our ports more friendly and competitive, ACTN is the right way to go.
