CRFFN Gets New Registrar
The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, has approved the appointment of Mr Igwe Onyekachi as the substantive Registrar/Chief Executive Officer of the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria.
He said the move was part of efforts to reposition the CRFFN for better efficiency and management.
The Head of Press & Public Relations of the Federal Ministry of Marine & Blue Economy, Muhammad Zakari, said in a statement that the appointment was contained in a letter signed by the Director of Maritime Services at the ministry, Mr Babatunde Sule.
Sule said the appointment is with immediate effect. He explained that Onyekachi will take over from Mrs Chinyere Uromta, who has been acting as the Registrar of the council for some time now.
He added that the appointment was in line with the relevant provisions of the CRFFN Act 2007 and it is for four years in the first tenure.
Onyekachi, 44, who hails from Imo State, holds a master’s degree in Transportation and Logistics and is also an active registered member of the CRFFN.
Recall that the council has been enmeshed in a crisis of confidence and insolvency, leading to its inability to pay salaries since January this year, until the minister stepped in to arrange a bailout loan for the payment of salaries.
