Chizoba Anyika – A Communications Strategist And Relationship Banker
“If you think it’s expensive to hire a professional, wait until you hire an amateur.” – Red Adair
You shouldn’t opt for an amateur for the position of National Publicity Secretary at the upcoming elections of the Chartered Institute of Transport Administration (CIoTA) Nigeria; when there is an experienced and trusted, Mrs. Chizoba Anyika!
Mrs. Anyika is an Assistant Director at the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) and Head, Cabotage Secretariat. She is also the Secretary of Women’s International Shipping and Trading Association (WISTA) Nigeria.
Having served as a Senior Public Relations Officer at NIMASA and as a former PRO of WISTA, she has enormous experience, charisma and networking clout to astutely manage the publicity affairs of CIoTA.
With over two decades experience in public service, she has carved a niche for herself as a distinguished PR personality and member of Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR). Her performance as PRO of WISTA Nigeria between 2010 and2012 saw her feature as the Editor of WISTA Magazine and Chizoba utilized that platform to build a rapport with maritime bigwigs, as well as other eminent personalities in the nation’s transport sector.
While she is a fellow of Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) and Nigeria Institute of Shipping; Chizoba has also performed as a Sub-Committee member on Publicity during the CILT African Forum in 2012.
She has been identified as one of the 2020 MMS United Nation’s Generational Amazons to be honoured in commemoration of the UN International Women’s Day (IWD), an event which would take place next month.
Mrs. Anyika’s penchant for excellence and public relations finesse could be traced back to her previous engagement with NIGERDOCK Nig. PLC between 1996 and 1999. She related with different clients from multinational establishments who visited to dock their vessels. Her passion and exceptionalism was such that she was deployed to the then MD/CEO’s office to particularly coordinate business dealings with the high caliber visitors of this prestigious office. Since then, she developed the landmark procedural manual for communication, entrance and exit from Tin-Can to Snake Island.
She also worked with the Embassy of Palestine, the then Doyen of the diplomatic corps in Lobito Crescent Abuja where she was Administrative Secretary in charge of correspondences to the embassy.
Before joining NIMASA, she also honed her publicity skills as the Head, Documentation & Information Control Unit of Sullivan & Sullivan Consultants, an SPDC COMMUNITY RELATIONS de-confliction firm ensuring hitch-free projects within the Cawthorne Channels, Flow stations and was the program process developer in cases of evacuation or relocation of Community members.
She holds a B.A (Hon) from UNIPORT and an MSc from Cardiff University UK. Anyika is equally highly experienced in needs assessment. Her training in the Maritime Business School at Cardiff University Wales and her vast experience in NIMASA, NIGERDOCK, Sullivan & Sullivan Consulting and various Committees is an asset that positions her as an appropriate candidate for the CIoTA PRO job.
Having worked with several transport industry practitioners, government officials, academicians and researchers, Chizoba is best placed to project the affairs of CIoTA to these stakeholders and others.
The position in contention requires a personality with a robust network of media professionals and newsroom engineers, and Chizoba has the outreach impetus. She has over the years built this relationship bank and so with this victory, all she needs is to cash the reserve for CIoTA and members. She deserves your vote when the CIoTA elections take place on Saturday September 12th, 2020.
