Following the composition of the governing boards of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), the new Managing Director of NPA, Ms. Hadiza Bala-Usman redeployed 19 senior management staff, a move aimed at repositioning the agency.
Hadiza Bala-Usman deserves commendation for putting smiles on the faces of those who have devoted several years of service to the NPA but the scenario the opposite at a sister agency, the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) where several employees have remained in one position for over fifteen (15) years.
DG Dakuku Peterside should take a leaf out of Hadiza’s book and reward those who have been maligned at the agency. He may not have been responsible for the neglect most of the workers in NIMASA have faced, but there is no better time to set things right than now.
