The recent move by the Controller General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Rtd. Col. Hameed Ali, to lift the ban on rice importation through the border axial routes, has been applauded in some quarters and has given a glimpse to the mind of the man at the top of the Customs ladder.
This can only confirm that perhaps President Buhari has chosen the right man for the job after all, against the backdrop of the controversy that trailed his appointment, even as some stakeholders have openly criticized the charitable move on the grounds that the NCS can only implement and the right to issue directive the sole preserve of the Federal Government.
But is it possible for the CG to take such a decision that is crucial to the economy of the country without the know of the FG? It is really true that people are hard to please.
