BEARS: Nigeria's Export Problem

One of the most traumatizing factor limiting export trade in Nigeria is the laissez-faire attitude of those who should be responsible for prioritizing exports.
MMS Plus observed the reaction of the Customs Area Controller of Apapa port, Comptroller Yusuf Malanta who stated that any increase in export should be celebrated when his attention was drawn to the fact that the port made less than 4 percent increase in volume and value of export in the first quarter of 2022 when compared with 2021.
If any progress should be celebrated, how then do we set margins for growth. It’s also important to note that Tin Can Island Port made over 55 percent in volume and 62 percent in value for the first quarter.
Perhaps, it’s time to give more attention to export business.
