The remains of two unidentified corpses were sighted by our correspondent last week along the Apapa-Oshodi expressway.
The two victims were lynched and burnt to death with noticeable parts of their bodies missing.
The lynching of suspected criminals by mob popularly known as “Jungle justice” is not new in Nigeria and is often met with mixed reactions as the victim could be a case of mistaken identity.
Such mob action is a violation of the victim’s rights under sections 33, 34 and 36 of the Nigerian Constitution which respectively guarantee everyone the rights to life, to the dignity of the human person and a fair hearing.
Recall that a member of the House of Representatives, representing Ahiazu Mbaise and Ehinihitte Mbaise Federal Constituency of Imo State, Hon. Emeka Martins Chinedu recently introduced a Bill seeking to punish those who engage in mob action.
Remember, anyone could be caught up so, report any suspicious event to the police and say NO TO JUNGLE JUSTICE
