Apapa Police To Curb Container Interception
The new Commander at Area ‘B’ Apapa Police Command, ACP Julius Okoro has assured the public that the police would refrain from intercepting containers within the Apapa vicinity except they have strong reasons to do so.
The Commander said this when he paid a familiarization visit to the headquarters of the National Asspciation of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) yesterday.
ACP Okoro urged the freight forwarders to feel free to report any misnomer to the Police Command as he maintained that he was running a transparent/ open door policy. He also assured that the officers at his Command would remain very committed and disciplined in the discharge of their duties.
ACP Okoro had also noted that within his first three months as Area Commander at the Area ‘B’ Command he had made significant efforts towards ensuring that the Apapa gridlock had been considerably resolved.
Speaking for NAGAFF, the Chairman of the Anti- Corrupt Unit of NAGAFF, Maxi Increase Uche stated that ACP Okoro’s visit was an opportunity to build and sustain a mutual relationship between the Police and Freight forwarders.
“It is an opportunity to establish friendship between the police and the association which will not only help the police in carrying out its obligation but it will also help our members when there are issues” Increase alleged.
