ANLCA Constitutes Committee To Expedite Elections At Murtala Mohammed Airport
The Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) has set up a working committee to speed up the election process at the Murtala Mohammed Airport which is proposed to take place next month.
The 7-man committee was set up to ensure all issues concerning the election are addressed, such that no one will be left out, disenfranchised or disadvantaged during the chapter election.
ANLCA leadership has also assured all members that it will conduct a credible, free and fair elections into all the association’s chapters across the country.
Addressing its members and stakeholders from the Muritala Mohammed Airport chapter at the ANLCA national secretariat in Lagos , the Vice President, Dr Farinto Collins promised that the ASECO will conduct a credible election into all the chapters of the association.
“We promised you a credible, free and fair election. Neither the National President nor any NECOM member will interfere in the election. I urge you to prepare and get accredited for your election”, Farinto said.
The meeting which was attended by a cross section of ANLCA members and stakeholders from the Airport Chapter including aspirants into various offices, provided opportunity to iron out some gray areas and fears nursed by the Chapter members ahead of the election.
The ANLCA National Secretary , Alhaji Abdulazeez Mukaila also took time to educate members on the Supreme Constitution of ANLCA with regards Chapter elections and the registration process for eligible voters and contestants.
All the members agreed that the election should be conducted promptly and in a free and fair manner.
Highlighting the commitment of NECOM to hold the election, Farinto said NECOM has decided to wave 2019, 2020 registration levies for all airport members, saying they will only pay for 2021 to be eligible to vote.
Meanwhile, members present at the meeting condemned the illegal chapter elections purported to be conducted by some aggrieved members from the Western Zone.
The ANLCA members at the National Secretariat urged NECOM to sanction those members who participated in the illegal chapter elections, without recourse to NECOM and the National President.
In his response, the Vice President of ANLCA, Dr. Farinto revealed that he has mandated the National Secretary to issue a query within 48hrs to those members who held the illegal chapter elections, noting that they could face expulsion from the association.
