Abdul-Salam Abubakar Chairs NIMAREX 2015
The Former Head of State, Federal Government of Nigeria, General Abdul-Salam Abubakar, GCFR, chairs the 5thEdition of Nigeria Maritime Expo (NIMAREX), 2015, with the theme; Nigeria: Regenerating Economic Growth Through The Maritime Sector, from the 6th -8th of July 2015.
Abdul-Salam will head a high delegation of speakers from the government and private sector to showcase an assemblage of maritime products, new technologies, service and expertise, as well as provide the platform to unlock various business opportunities in Nigeria’s largely unexploited Maritime Sector, at the Eko Convention Centre, Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos.
The Chairman Planning Committee, Prince Ayorinde Adedoyin, stated that the Expo and Conference is aimed at attracting investors, and offers the opportunity of Nigeria as an import dependent nation which has expected 10 million TEUs in the next three decades.
Adedoyin added that, Nigeria imports over 12billion liters of refined petroleum products per annum and has a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) reserve of over 7 trillion cubic meters with tankers required for non-stop massive shipment of LNG annually, and consequently, is a strategic opportunity for companies in the maritime sector and international maritime operators.
Exhibitors at the Expo will include but not limited to; Ship owners and Ship Managers, Ship repairs/ builders, Marine Equipment Manufacturers, Marine Lubricant Dealers, Nigeria Chamber Shipping, Nigeria Shipping Association, Government Ministries and Agencies, Global Marine Regulatory Agencies, International Oil Companies, Customs Licensed Agents, Maritime Lawyers, Port Authorities, Maritime Media Organisations, among others.
Resource persons at the Expo will be drawn from; Founder/ Pioneer President, Nigeria Chamber of Shipping and Principal Partner, O&A Legal, Dr. Olisa Agbakoba, SAN, Chairman, UBA PLC, Dr. Tony Elumelu, chief of Naval Staff, Nigerian Navy, Vice Admiral Usman O.
