A port city should be an exclusive area, secured and clean. Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and Lagos State Government carried out the long awaited clean up eradicating the shanties around Tin Can Island Port (TICP) area last week. Although hundreds of people could lose their means of livelihood with this development, the port environment shouldn’t be home to shanties.
MMS Plus also found out that the authorities notified the community severally to evacuate the premises!
Indeed, Tin Can Island Port has taken shape as an ISPS (International Ship and Port Facility) Code compliant port.
